Prospective Student Staff

Under the Bright Success Center, the Fiat Lux Scholars Program serves a select cohort of first-generation students to enhance their development, growth, and academic success. The Fiat Lux Scholars Program offers the following student staff positions:

Community Scholar 

Community Scholars live alongside the first-year scholars in the Living Learning Community (LLC) of Tenaya Residence Hall. They host scholar check-ins through office hours and community programming within the LLC. The goal of the Community Scholar is to help build a community amongst the residents and provide scholars with a safe and supportive space to learn and grow.

Eligibility

  • Must be at least in 2nd Year Academic Standing
  • Must have a 2.75 Cumulative GPA

Academic Scholar (4-5 openings)

Academic Scholars facilitate study sessions and provide a quiet study environment for scholars. Their role is to enforce study session policies, accurately report the attendance of scholars and facilitate various study groups. They also encourage the scholars to be independent and interdependent in their academics by using the resources on campus. In addition, Academic Scholars plan and implement monthly social for all Fiat Lux program participants.

  • Must be a least in 2nd Year Academic Standing 
  • Must have a 2.75 Cumulative GPA

Lead Scholar (4-5 openings)

Lead Scholars have more of a mentorship focused role. They meet with the scholars on a 1-1 basis throughout the semester. They also facilitate workshops - sometimes in collaboration with on-campus resources and department - for the scholars, which center on financial, academic, personal, and career success.

  • Must have a 2.75 Cumulative GPA

Student Coordinator (2 openings)

Student Coordinators work behind the scenes of the program. They provide guidance and support to the student staff, assist professional staff, organize team meetings and training sessions, and analyze data from all aspects of the program.

  • Must have a 2.75 Cumulative GPA

Fiat Lux Outreach and Retention Student Coordinator  (1 opening)

The Fiat Lux Onboarding Assistant plays a vital role in assisting incoming (1st-Year) Fiat Lux Scholars with questions regarding the onboarding process and addressing challenges that students may face in their process of committing to the Fiat Lux Scholars Program.

  • Must be at least in 3rd Year Academic Standing 
  • Must have a 2.75 Cumulative GPA
