Student Coordinators

Student Coordinators do the following: 

  • Coordinate Faculty Receptions, Student Staff Trainings, and 1st-Year Fiat Lux Program Participant Orientation.  

  • Provide general guidance and support to student staff and serve as a liaison between Professional Staff and Student Staff.

  • Administrate the Fiat Lux E-mail account and assist program participants with program requirement inquires. 

  • Monitor data and retention rates of Fiat Lux Scholar Program participants and provide participants with clarification on program requirements.

 

Caroline Velez

Hi everyone! My name is Caroline Velez and I am a 4th-year political science major. I was born and raised in a neighborhood called Boyle Heights, which is located in Los Angeles. After college, I plan to take a year off and get work experience towards the profession I am aspiring to be and then go into graduate school. A fun fact about me is that in the 2019 spring semester, I studied abroad in Hong Kong and traveled to South Korea, Japan, and Mainland China. I am eager to work with all of you this academic year and if you need any assistance, always feel free to reach out!

Hello Everyone! My name is Juan Robles Nava and I am from Orosi CA, a small rural town with a population of around 8,000 people. I am the oldest in my family and the first to graduate high school and go to college. I am a 4th-Year Political Science Major with a Minor in Philosophy. I'm excited to be working with the Fiat Lux Scholars Program and helping you all reach your potential here at UC Merced. A fun fact about me is that back in 2014, I stayed at Frank Sinatra's former mansion in Los Angeles CA, which at the time was converted into a vacation home. I enjoy playing electric guitar, going to concerts and playing video games. I hope to meet you all this academic year and assist you in any way that I can. As a Student Coordinator, I administrate the Fiat Lux Email Account, however, if you wish to meet in person that is also an option by booking an appointment with the link below.
